The Hill City Writers’ Workshop: For the Love of Words! will connect adult writers to mentors in the heart of the Black Hills of South Dakota October 7-9, 2016. If you attend all weekend, you are able to submit up to ten double-spaced pages of your manuscript for review and receive feedback from your mentor in one-on-one and intensive small group sessions throughout the weekend getaway.
This year, the Hill City Arts Council’s workshop features a second one-on-one session and a second small-group session, allowing participants to revise their writing and receive feedback on the changes they make.
A dinner and keynote by mentor Brian Bedard at Mount Rushmore’s Carvers Cafe completes the day of events on Saturday. Only eight participants per mentor means that registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. You can choose who you wish to mentor you. This year’s mentors include:
- Brian Bedard
- Linda Hasselstrom
- Bernie Hunhoff
- Lee Ann Roripaugh
If you aren’t sure you can commit to a full weekend, you can purchase a ticket for the dinner and keynote on Saturday, or join the group for the free public readings on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.
Registration to attend the entire weekend is $225. Those who wish to just attend the keynote and dinner portion of the weekend, can purchase a ticket for $35. To purchase your ticket or register to attend the event, go here.
There is also a youth writing program. For more infomration on that, click here.
